At this house with a stunning view of nature, we aimed for a seamless transition from the home, patio, and to the surrounding landscape. We strategically lowered the patio's elevation, allowing us to eliminate the view-obstructing guardrails. We also replaced the old wooden deck with a multi-level natural stone patio and staircase in order to bring the material unity to this open space. To complete this space that merges into nature, we designed custom outdoor furniture inspired by traditional Japanese wooden benches with clean lines and the material that will naturally weather.
